The goals of the Israel Committee are to foster a connection to, and love of, Israel through:
- educational programs;
- religious school education and life-long learning programming;
- cultural programs;
- travel to Israel;
- promotion of ARZA membership;
- support of Israeli companies and merchants.

Tonight, one-third of Israeli children will go to bed hungry.
A survey conducted in late 2011 by Israel’s National Insurance Institute found that 19 percent of Israeli families suffer from food insecurity, ten percent suffer from hunger and two percent suffer from severe hunger. Draught, terrorism, and a declining world-wide economic situation all contribute to this alarming situation. Engaging in charitable acts and supporting social justice, are synonymous with Temple Beth Abraham. As you undoubtedly know, during the year 5772, we have turned our tikkun olam focus to hunger. Keeping in step with this priority, the Israel Committee and Tikkun Olam are co-sponsoring a breakfast conversation with Lauren Yokèd, the Associate Director of Development for the American Friends of Leket Israel, Israel’s National Food Bank. Ms. Yokèd’s presentation, “Food Waste, Food Rescue, and Hunger in Israel Today: Making a Positive Change,” will take place on Sunday, March 4th, at 9:00 AM. For reservations, please email pattich@tba-ny.org or call 631-1770. And to learn more about Leket, check their website at http://leket.org.il/english/. Together, we can make a difference.
